We love to take our horses to shows.  It gets them out to experience new things, and we love to show them off too!  We try to balance our horses' lives with trail riding, showing, camping, pasture time, and lots of love.  We believe this makes a happy, willing horse.

Malachi had his second show the first week of August.  It was very hot, and Malachi was very tired, but he did an excellent job.  His behavior was much calmer at this show also.  He wasn't so nervous, and he didn't call to every mare that walked passed him!  He even took some walks and had a chance to nibble on some green grass.  I'm so proud of the improvement, and so many people told me once again that he was absolutely exquisite.  He loves to go places, and he is learning that he'll get to go more places if he can contain his enthusiasm!

Malachi's First Show!

So much power and grace

We just got back from Malachi's first dressage show Dressage Lite in Mason City, Iowa on June 28th & 29th.  It was a new experience for me and for him!  Dressage shows are very different from Western shows.  It will be fun to do both.  Malachi was such a trooper.  He is young and a stallion, so I was very concerned about how things were going to go.  Wow!  I shouldn't have been so worried.  Missy Fladland, his trainer, rode him in training level in five classes in the open division during the double, two day show.  They received two first places, two second places, and a third place.  They also received reserve champion for the first day's show in training level.  They had the second highest score that day!  Their two highest scores also qualified them for the regional championship in September - all this at the first show!  I am so proud of him.  He finally has some ribbons!!

His nervousness got better each day, and he tried so hard to concentrate in his new surroundings.  People I didn't even know asked if they could video tape and photograph him.  The judges seemed to love him too.  Their comments were very positive and helpful for his future training.  He is a force not to be denied, and I am so happy he is mine!!

He consistently got 8s on his gaits.

Look at all my ribbons!

Missy also rode Aristotle, a warmblood stallion.  He did an excellent job riding first level (as you can see from his ribbons).  He is a very big and powerful mover.

Do these colors make me look more studly?

See you next show!
